What is Computing Environment ? Describes the cloud computing, its types, Advantages and disadvantages ?
The computing environment involves the collection of computers machinery, data storage device, work stations, software applications, and network that support the processing and exchange of electronic information demanded by the software solution.Some of the computing environment are as follows :-
1. Personal computing environment :-
In this, a single computer is used by a single person, such as a computer is called as personal computer. All the hardware devices are present at a single location and are packed as a single unit.2. Time sharing environment :-
In this environment, multiple computers connected to a single large computer called server, server shares resources to other system.3. Client server environment :-
This environment is similar to time sharing environment. Here server provides web sites.Cloud Computing :-
Cloud computing is a type of computing that relies on shared computing resources rather than having local servers or personal devices to handle applications. The servers are delivered and used over the internet and are paid for by the cloud customers on an as needed or pay per business model.Types of cloud computing :-
◾Public cloud : available via internet to anyone will to pay.◾Private cloud : run by a company for the companies own use.
◾Hybrid cloud : includes both public and private cloud components.
◾Software as a server (SAAS) : one or more applications available via the internet(i.e, word processor)
◾platform as a service (PASS) : software stack ready for application use via the internet (i.e. a database server).
◾Infrastructure as a service (IAAS) : server or storage available over internet (i.e. storage available for backup use).
Advantages :-
◾Easy implementation.◾Accessibility.
◾No hardware required.
◾Flexibility for growth.
◾Efficient recovery.
Disadvantages :-
◾No longer in control.◾May not get all the features.
◾Doesn't mean you should do away with server.
◾No redundancy.
◾Bandwidth issue.
